This job description offers a useful list of the job responsibilities and expectations of the position of Counselor. This list may be revised/updated at any time. The employee is responsible for meeting expectations of the Program of Pursue Family Services, LLC. This can include items that are not listed below. This description does not supersede your direct supervisor’s directives and/or expectations or Pursue Family Services LLC policies and procedures. Counselors have the following responsibilities:
• Provide direct service daily, including psycho-educational groups, crisis interventions, and weekly contact with parent(s)/legal guardian(s).
• Promote the program in a positive manner to elicit referrals and maintain census and growth of the program.
• Participate in monthly outings.
• Maintain an accurate list of caseload.
• Submit a copy of all Restraint Forms and Incident Reports to your Site Supervisor.
• Ensure that every Incident Report is completed immediately after the incident and that it is submitted to the Program Director within 24 hours of the incident.
• Complete assigned documentation daily using sound clinical documentation and abide by all agency, Medicaid and licensure standards.
• Submit progress notes daily to the Site Supervisor.
• Attend all related review teams, staffing, etc. when related to a client assigned to your caseload.
• Complete all Quarterly Reviews on or before the due date.
• Participate in the development of ISPs for clients on your caseload.
• Interact with licensed staff as necessary to make them aware of the need for goal modifications, deletions and additions.
• Attend all annual and/or semi-annual mandatory agency trainings (CPR, First Aid, Human Rights and HIPAA, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) will possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a Human Services Field or Special Education with at least one (1) year of direct clinical services to children, adolescents or adults.

Clinical Supervisors have the following responsibilities:
• Report directly to Clinical Director (LMHP) for bi-weekly supervision
• Conduct initial assessment and submit to LMHPs within 24 hours to be submitted to Magellan. Collect re-assessment questionnaires from counselors and complete re-assessments as needed.
• Review of Virginia Independent Assessment Program Report (VICAP) reports.
• Complete prior authorization reports and submit to Magellan for approval prior to the expiration date.
• Collaborate with LMHPs to determine the client’s diagnosis.
• Conduct clinical trainings to heighten quality of therapeutic services provided by Counselors.
• Interact with client’s parent/guardian(s) on an as needed basis.
• Lead/assist with crisis interventions for clients.
• Work closely with Site Supervisor in efforts to promote the program in a positive manner to elicit referrals and maintain census and growth of the program.
• Facilitate clinical staffing’s with counselors and site supervisors to improve the overall treatment provided to the client’s monthly.
• Review quarterly and individualized service plans for clinical soundness.
• Attend all annual mandatory agency training (CPR, First Aid, Human Rights, HIPPA, etc.).
• Identify clinical areas that require strengthening and seek out opportunities to attend training in such areas.
Minimum Requirements
Qualified applicants will possess a Master’s degree in a human service program (i.e., psychology, counseling, social work, etc.) with a minimum of one (1) year clinical Experience with children, adolescents and adults. Applicant must be eligible for licensure with Virginia Board of Counseling and Social Work, registered to receive Supervision towards Licensure.
